Give a Child a Family

All children have the right to enjoy life and to receive proper care including education. There are many reasons that prevent these basic rights for children who have been orphaned, abused ,  abandoned or who are HIV/AIDS infected and who have been “at risk” early in their lives. Age  appropriate education for children at the Give a Child a Family shelter is provided for 70 children each year  by trained and experienced teachers who deal with the specific educational and learning needs of each individual child. Happy Feet – When children are well looked after when they are very young, many problems can be avoided in later life. Worldwide research indicates that the first seven years of life are critical for rapid physical, mental, emotional and social growth and development. Early Childhood Development programs are provided for toddlers and young children. (children age 18 months - 3 )

Happy hands – Provides the foundation phase of education to children in the important year before they start formal schooling. This is the time that they acquire concepts, skills and attitudes which lays the foundation for lifelong learning. These include the acquisition of language, perception skills required for learning to read and write, basic numeracy concepts, basic problem solving skills and the establishment and maintenance of relationships. (children age 4 – 6)
